Wild Mood Swings

We decide to listen to Wild Mood Swings so that we'll be able to put names to the new songs they'll play at the concert. As yet, we can only identify "Mint Car," "The 13th" and "Round and Round and Round."

Loren suggests that the Cure close with an experimental version of "Mint Car" in which Simon puts down his bass and just sings "I'm happy, I'm happy."

Why is Robert's voice so weird on "Club America?" Why does it sound weirder on "The 13th?"

We stop at Flying J and I buy postcards... blah blah blah. The Winslow Flying J has a Trucker's Lounge with a Video Game Room and a sign that says Drivers Only. This is the third Flying J I've been to with Loren. [Note: Loren and I had a weak plan to visit every Flying J truckstop in America.]

We all agree that "Strange Attraction" is the worst Cure song EVER. We find "Mint Car" to be much better if you listen to it after "Strange Attraction"

Mint car = strap-on? "It's so big it almost hurts!"

Loren considers the possibility that the Cure made a potentially poorly-selling album to get out of a contract with Elektra.

Anagram for The Queen Is Dead: Needs head? Quite!

Loren masturbates a Coke bottle to "Round and Round and Round," which we agree is better than "Strange Attraction" because the latter is so Amy Grantish and, as Loren said, "Robert Smith is no Amy Grant."

A roadsign indicates that Gallup, NM is 100 miles away. We lamely joke that we can meet Simon Gallup there. We pass around a bottle of Gatorade. "Gone!" is a pretty good song. Loren praises the "mind-numbing bass of Simon" and "the competent drumming of Jason Cooper."
