"I'm sorry," I say, "I don't eat nuts."

"Don't eat nuts?" she asks. "Oh, you're one of them. Well, am I worse person for eating nuts? I bet you're one of those nut activists. You probably don't use any products made from nuts, either, right? Do you throw red paint on peanut vendors? Do you take part in nut rights rallies?"
